The UN General Assembly has designated 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables (IYFV)

2020, the International Year of Plant Health, is drawing to a close as new projects are being delineated for 2021, which the FAO has named as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables (IYFV).
The IYFV 2021 project aims to raise public awareness about the important role of fruits and vegetables in human nutrition, food security and general health, and represents an opportunity to further the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. During the launch of IYFV 2021, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: "Let us use this International Year to rethink our relationship with how we produce and consume food. Let us re-examine our food systems and commit to a healthier, more resilient and sustainable world where everyone can access and afford the diverse nutrition they need."
