This prize, in memory of the journalist Gianni Fossati who was the Academy’s First Vice-President, is dedicated to print journalists who champion Italian cuisine and promote Italian food of the highest calibre. This year there was a three-way tie between Gemma Gaetani, an author and food writer who writes for La Verità; Stefano Scansani, a writer and journalist for the Gazzetta di Mantova; and Valerio Massimo Visintin, a journalist and food critic for Corriere della Sera’s magazine Vivimilano. The latter appeared fully masked so that he could continue visiting restaurants incognito.
