New York event supporting Italian cuisine’s UNESCO candidacy

On the occasion of the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, one of the world’s most important agrifood festivals, an event was held in support of Italian cuisine’s candidacy for UNESCO Intangible Heritage status. The candidacy celebrations preceded the Fancy Food Show’s opening ceremony and were held in the presence of Italy’s Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, Italy’s Ambassador to the USA Mariangela Zappia, and ICE/ITA (Italian Trade Agency) President Matteo Zoppas. Authority figures and representatives of government bodies and Italian and international food-related organisations gathered at a celebratory gala organised by ICE/ITA at The Pierre Hotel on Fifth Avenue. The Academy was also present in the person of New York Delegate Roberta Marini de Plano, pictured with Minister Lollobrigida.
