New Legation opens in Japan

The new Legation covers the Kansai area, particularly the city of Osaka, which has the largest Italian community in Japan after Tokyo and boasts noteworthy Italian restaurants. The Legate is Francesco Santi Formiconi, financial director of Diesel Japan and a fashion economics professor at the Business School in Kyoto, introduced to the Academy by the worthy and active Tokyo Legate Emanuela Orighi. Italy’s Consul-General in Osaka, Luigi Diodati, supported the Legation’s establishment from the beginning and has been made an honorary Academician. Other enthusiasts of Italian traditions and cuisine will soon join the new Legation.
