Having considered the nominations received, the President’s Council has assigned the Gianni Fossati Prize for 2021 equally to Carlo Ottaviano and Luca Bonacini, two important food and wine sector journalists.
Carlo Ottaviano: his professional career began in 1975 in Ragusa. He is now responsible for the agrifood section of the newspaper Il Messaggero, and oversees, inter alia, the pages dedicated to taste and the articles focussing on agro-industry every week. He regularly collaborates with the monthly La Cucina Italiana; with Leggere:tutti (of which he has also been the director) regarding cultural themes; and with the Sicilian edition of the daily La Repubblica.
Luca Bonacini: he writes for QN Resto del Carlino, La Nazione, Il Giorno, James Magazine, Gambero Rosso, LiveIn Golf & Style, Scatti di Gusto and ADV, exploring possible links between food and wine, literature and cinema, suggesting fitting travel itineraries and unmissable destinations to appreciate good food. He contributes to the Gambero Rosso Guides and teaches food- and wine-related subjects in prestigious educational institutes.
